In which G.M. Norton marks the first anniversary of Norton of Morton.
Crikey!
This periodical reaches a rather important milestone tomorrow, dear
readers. Believe it or not, the very first Norton of Morton periodical posting was published at 4 o’clock on Saturday 8th September 2012 - one whole year ago! Time for a birthday celebration, what?
It’s fair to say that champagne corks will be flying at Château NoM this weekend, with a Telegram eagerly expected from our sovereign (and regular reader, according to Harry), Her Majesty the Queen.

Over the last year, Saturday at 4 o’clock has become synonymous with this periodical. My illustrious readership (that’s you) can go about their daily lives, safe in the knowledge that a fresh slice of Norton of Morton goodness will be arriving at this very day and time of the week, without fail.
I
can’t quite believe that a whole year has whizzed by in an unstoppable
force of merriment. And what a year it has been! Highlights of the vintage year include:
- Being welcomed like a long-lost friend into the vintage and blogging community
- Featuring in two magazines – Pretty Nostalgic and His Vintage Life
- Championing my crusade for 2013, ‘Year of the Gentleman’
- Growing a respectable 1,000 followers on The Twittering Device
- Carving out a ‘gentleman for hire’ niche, appearing at events
- Cultivating a rather large soup strainer
- Being granted membership into the fabled ranks of The Handlebar Club
And
now for my latest news (please imagine a drum roll or repeatedly tap a
hard surface). This week, Norton of Morton was announced as a finalist
in the Best of Vintage Manchester Awards 2013. A thousand thanks to everybody
who nominated this periodical.
Not
content with simply being a finalist, I am now plotting to claim the
ultimate victory and win the category I’m competing for, Best Vintage
Lifestyle Blog. Please do be a sport and vote and help Norton of Morton
emerge victorious.

That's jolly decent of you, dear lady. It really has flown by, I must say. Of course, I'm suffering now (one bottle of celebratory bubbly too many).
ReplyDeleteWell done on the nomination! Hope you win
ReplyDeleteMost kind, ma'am. It is wonderful to have the divine Leopard and Lipstick in my corner. Your blog would have been a worthy finalist too.
